Finding Duplicate Files

The Duplicate Finder identifies true duplicate files in your Media Library, even if they were re-uploaded under a different name.

How duplicates are detected

Every file is compared by its actual contents using an MD5 hash — not filename or upload date — so only byte-for-byte identical files are grouped together.

Reclaiming space safely

Duplicate groups show exactly how much space each group is wasting. Even if you select every file in a group for deletion, the plugin always keeps at least one copy server-side.
