FAQ and Troubleshooting

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a Luma API key?
No. HK Event Import for Luma uses the public Luma API which does not require authentication.

How many events can I import at once?
You can import as many events as you need. Simply enter multiple Event IDs separated by commas or on separate lines in the text box.

Will re-importing an event create a duplicate?
No. The plugin detects existing events by their Luma ID. If “Update Existing Events” is enabled in Settings, the event will be updated. Otherwise, it will be skipped.

Does the plugin work with page builders like Elementor or Divi?
Yes. You can use the `[hkeif_events]` shortcode in any page builder’s shortcode widget.

Troubleshooting

Images are not downloading:
Ensure your WordPress server has `allow_url_fopen` enabled in PHP, and that it has permission to write to the `wp-content/uploads` directory.

Events are not displaying on the frontend:
Make sure the events are marked as “Published” (check your Default Post Status setting) and that their dates match the `period` parameter in your shortcode (e.g., if you only have past events, but the shortcode defaults to `period=”future”`).

The API says “Error fetching”:
Check if the Event ID is correct. If the event is Private on Luma, the public API may not be able to fetch it without authentication (Pro feature).
